There are two major classifications of arthritis. The first is osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is a disease that is mainly characterized by the degeneration of cartilage that connect between joints. The most common areas of decay occur under weight bearing joints such as the knee, hips, and spine. The joints inside of a hand are also a common location for osteoarthritis. This degeneration causes pain, swelling, and the formation in the affected areas. The range of motion is also effective in the patients. Osteoarthritis comes with the normal process of aging. Roughly 70 to 80% of the population will experience this disease by or after age 50. Symptoms include stiffness, crackling joints, pain. The pain increases, people turn to painkillers and anti-inflammatory drug such as Vioxx and others.

The other major area of arthritis is called Rheumatoid arthritis. Unlike osteoarthritis is considered to be an autoimmune disease that is often displayed through chronic inflammation of synovial lining as well as the destruction of cartilage in the body. Although Rheumatoid arthritis is considered to be hereditary, it appears to affect women three times as often as men. Fevers, loss of weight, and general fatigue along with joint deformities and paying our symptoms that accompany the disease.
